Zwazzbazz

Located only a few kilometres away from Lantmännen Doggys’ production plant in Vårgårda, you will find the kennel Zwazzbazz.

This is where Lantmännen Doggys’ taste panel is living. The taste panel consists of around 30 dogs of the breeds Basset, Papillion, West Highland White Terrier and Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen.  The dogs live a nice quiet life there with their own little cosy Swedish red cottages in the exercising yard where they can relax and sleep.

The taste tests are made twice a day and every dog gets two food bowls to choose from. From the moment when the bowls have been given to the dog, everything is well documented. From which bowl they choose first to which bowl they eat the most food from. It is not uncommon that the dogs start to sniff one bowl and eat a little and then decide to go to the other one and eat all of the food in that bowl.

After each meal, the amount of food that is left in the bowls is carefully weighted in order to find out how much the dog has been eating.  This is documented and registered in a database where every dog is also registered with his or her name, weight and ID-number.

These tests are usually made during more than one year and are followed up more or less daily by Lantmännen Doggys’ R&D department. When a new product line or a new recipe is introduced on the market it is already well tested by our picky test panel.

The kennel Zwazzbazz is run by Veronika and Haukur Hauksson .
